conan Vs bear
Sunday, January 29, 2006, 08:41 PM - General, Relationships, Illustration
This afternoon, after two weeks of a form of procrastination, or thinking, whichever you want to call it, I decided to knuckle down and do my illustration for Conan Vs Bear that was suggested I do, from one of the guys that run the site. Not really knowing who Conan O'Brien is, I had to have a look see, kind of recognised him, and did my illustration:
Pretty happy with it. Don't think it really looks like him, I made sure he had the hairstyle and that's about it. Decided he should be an Indian Deity. The Bear doesn't look too fierce either, but hey! It is my interpretation, it does the job for me.
The bear is playing with his food perhaps?
I was happy to actually do a REAL illustration, not that drawing in ink isn't really drawing, it is just that this is not the type of illustration I have done for a while, so it was good just to concentrate on that.
Apart from that, my Sunday has been pretty uneventful. Went for a walk, ate, had a nap, read a bit (Watched my man obsessively trying to read all the Narnia books in one day)... pretty thrilling. I suspect, what can you do it is honestly too cold to do much else.

illustration friday: Glamour
Saturday, January 28, 2006, 08:42 AM - General, Illustration, Illustration Friday
SO!
Here is my submission for illustration friday. Again, it is an older illustration with my Queen Cockatoo (my favourite bird, apart from the Kookaburra of course). Her glamour, is, of course, the fact that she is wearing a crown of sorts. I would love to hear some crazy Australian birds screeching or laughing or whichever noise you choose to call it.

my head hurts...
Thursday, January 26, 2006, 05:58 PM - General
Despite what I thought was going to happen on Monday, I did not have my new, fabulous tooth put in place. Instead, he gave me a few injections, cut open the gum again over the implant, told me I had healed well, but at the same time "a little too well", stuck the metal part that I suspect will be inside the crown that will be created in the next two weeks, and then took one of the most painful impressions of my mouth I have ever experienced. Stuck a cap over the implant he had cleaned off and sent me on my way. I will be pleased when it is all over. Honestly, I know this is a form of vanity to have a false tooth put in, but it is nice to chew on both sides of one's mouth sometimes. I can't imagine doing anything worse just for cosmetic reasons. I can be such a chicken sometimes...
As it is 12 days to my man's birthday, I had decided to make it the 12 days of ... (insert specified holiday here: Christmas, Easter...) He will get some type of "present" everyday. The funny thing is he thought this idea was outlandish last night, but asked me this morning what his present was today... just like a spoilt child!
Oh and, some French people suck... I don't need to justify my comment.
I will say it has nothing to do with my family-in-law.

snakes that don't eat their friends...
Sunday, January 22, 2006, 06:33 PM - General, Relationships, Vegan/Vegetarian
Found this on EuroVegans, who in turn found it on Yahoo News, it's the best!
TOKYO - Gohan and Aochan make strange bedfellows: one's a 3.5-inch dwarf hamster; the other is a four-foot rat snake. Zookeepers at Tokyo's Mutsugoro Okoku zoo presented the hamster — whose name means "meal" in Japanese — to Aochan as a tasty morsel in October, after the snake refused to eat frozen mice.
But instead of indulging, Aochan decided to make friends with the furry rodent, according to keeper Kazuya Yamamoto. The pair have shared a cage since.
"I've never seen anything like it. Gohan sometimes even climbs onto Aochan to take a nap on his back," Yamamoto said.
Aochan, a 2-year-old male Japanese rat snake, eventually developed an appetite for frozen rodents but has so far shown no signs of gobbling up Gohan — despite her name.
"We named her Gohan as a joke," Yamamoto chuckled. "But I don't think there's any danger. Aochan seems to enjoy Gohan's company very much."
The Tokyo zoo also keeps a range of mostly livestock animals, and promotes "cross-breed interaction," according to Yamamoto.
But Gohan and Aochan's case was "was a complete accident," Yamamoto said.
I just had the best massage from my mother-in-law. She was supposed to massage my man, but he is too big for her to deal with at the moment, as she will have an operation on her shoulder this week. She claimed she could fix my crazy aching arms, and crappy stressed neck pain. She has. She is also the best today.

illustration friday : cats
Saturday, January 21, 2006, 05:50 PM - Relationships, Art/Design, Illustration Friday
Oh dear this is a worrying subject!
For some reason... you know I love animals, despite thinking that most, if not all, cats are completely crazy... I have no real build-up of cat illustrations, nor honestly think about them too often in terms of drawing. Dogs, wolves and monkeys... much more fun.
So I did the above illustration as a submission for the Asaurus Records t-shirt competition, I submitted another illustration I was happier with. This was drawn after the other cat illustration I did, I was trying to perfect my cynical looking cat with the monocle... but this one looked too happy to me. She has a funny tail too, but hey, cats can have defects too.
So, speaking of the cat with the monocle illustration, I have decided to do something with it. I have decided to make an over-sized postcard with it. I haven't thought it through completely, in terms of colours, but it is in process.
I feel boring, sorry. I have been extremely tired in the past few days, I am pleased to say this coming week isn't so bad, less money made, but perhaps I can actually do more of my stuff instead?
Shock Horror!
