six weird things about...
Wednesday, February 7, 2007, 07:05 PM - General
So here I am after being tagged by Majeak Ann to write six weird things about me, so, let's start:
Firstly:
The image above, do you think a normal person works like that? (Damn that French verb table book, I still need it occasionally).
Secondly:
Due to a childhood fear of vampires, (after seeing a piece of the original silent film "Nosferatu"), starting at about 16 years of age, I got tired of sleeping with just a small hole to breathe out of and I read just about every piece of vampire fiction available. Old and new. It fixed it... now what about those aliens?
Thirdly:
I told my class when I was eleven that, in fact, lettuce was my favourite food... if only I knew the consequences of that statement now...
Fourthly:
I let my hair get to Edward Sissorhand standards sometimes, in fact it is like that today. It must be a childhood hang-up, my mother used to chase me with the brush, and in the end just cut the big mats out of my hair because she couldn't deal with the screaming. I don't think the curly hair helps the dread locking.
Fifthly:
I'd like to dedicate this last one to "my town".
Why oh Why do I see vomit in the street EVERYDAY in this place? I never saw it in Paris to that extent... is it because it is a university town? Are people eating tons of crap they can't stomach? I don't understand.
And Lastly
I... I... ummm. Perhaps I need to ask someone about this last one?
Plus I don't know who to tag!

Is it a bear? Is it a crane? It's chia-pet monster!
(I've got the name right, yes? You know those ceramic alfalfa sprouting animals... I had one, I think it was a pig).

So, here we go!
My first Gocco image.
I have already learnt that you should perhaps have a sheet of paper the same size as the pad... but strangely, when the image was perfectly lined up, it was kind of cold. So these are fairly lined up, but I like many others because they aren't. Plus, I like the imperfections... but that is me.

something is keeping my mind occupied...

As I think hard about "red" for Illustration Friday (actually, it is not such a hard topic, as I am always using red...but...) I decided to post the other two images that I have done for Jonathan Keeley. We are almost there with his CD cover. I have two plans today, to finish a "red" image, that I have been looking at since last friday (it is Ern Malley again for another project) and...
AND!
I received my GOCCO!
48 hours in the house, and I have an image planned. I just need to expose the screens and print. I might have time today to do this.
I need to update my portfolio site, I was trying to find something on there the other day to show someone, and even I had trouble finding stuff, it is a big, overcrowded mess (sorry VdB), but it is true.

start of a goodyear...

This year started with a bang once I got back from Canada.
I was asked by Jonathan Keeley to create a CD cover for his release The Hanged Man.
The two images above are images conjured up by his melancholic, but, strangely warm music. More about this as it transpires. Perhaps these images will change?
I also was accepted into the next edition of Carousel Magazine, so this made me very happy too!
I am organising myself for my very first spruiking of my wares soon.
I need to get out of this English teaching game that takes more time than the creation.
