Collaboration
Sunday, July 25, 2010, 12:19 PM - General, Relationships, Art/Design, Illustration, Exhibitions, Markets
Despite doing a massive week at the restaurant, tonight, I have the interest of drawing and painting flowing through my veins. I have had an idea of using Japanese Kokeshi or daruma as a base for a set of illustrations, and I think this is where it might start (generally). This is the start of a very exciting collaboration with Catherine Campbell.
I also sent out my very first newsletter this week, after threatening to do it for months.

Sweets Workshop opening
Monday, July 19, 2010, 09:00 AM - General, Relationships, Art/Design, Illustration, Gocco, Exhibitions, Markets
This Saturday just passed was the official opening of Sweets Workshop in Summer Hill in Sydney. The gallery was packed with lovely pieces that Emma and John had collected from mainly Sydney. I was very happy to be a part of it. They also have their first exhibition up called My Goodness, My Gocco. Very nice indeed.

Gone, But Not Forgotten

This piece sat on my desk, with the start of another piece for the Blanket Magazine Issue 23, Gone - But Not Forgotten. Woke up this morning with the need to finish one or the other, and this one won. I am pleased to have another piece finished that I have loitering in my workspace.

short trip to Melbourne
Tuesday, July 13, 2010, 02:58 PM - General, Relationships, Art/Design, Illustration, Stores: Etsy, Blue House
During last week, I took a three day "holiday" to Melbourne with my man, who had never visited my parents there. I took the opportunity to visit some store while there, even though it can be horrendous for me to do it like that, but good for me in other ways (character building I can hear my parents saying, from when I worked in a department store as a teenager).
Any ho... it went ok the places I saw, and now I beleive I should make myself a "stockists" page so you know where I am. Stay posted!

on the rampage
Thursday, July 1, 2010, 11:06 AM - General, Relationships, Art/Design, Illustration, Stores: Etsy, Blue House, Exhibitions, Markets
As the new financial year starts, I have been making an effort to get my work (in whatever form it needs to be) in bricks and mortar stores. I figure I have something for all types of gift or paper style stores these days.
The two Pulp Stores on the Northern Beaches have had my work in them for a while (the above photo is my monster stuffie in Pulp Life, Manly).
This week I dropped off some Colouring Books at Little Paper Lane (Mona Vale) after just appearing and talking to the lovely Jayde... and...
yesterday I dropped of my pieces for the first exhibition at Sweets Workshop in Summerhill. Emma and John (more super nice people) have a selection of my originals and ACEOS, plus the gocco prints they wanted for the opening exhibition. I wanted them to be my Hipstamtic photo of the day, but I found out after I took it, if you have your hipstamatic application set at higher resolution, take two successive photos, then, don't look at them in between, it doesn't save either of them. Disappointing. No matter.
Anyway. Next week, I am going to Melbourne, and plan to get some of my pieces in stores there. Crossed fingers!
