I have given my Moleskine to go to the Moleskine people for the The London Book Fair, a little scared, but I have documented it well, so I can let it go for now.

I was in Melbourne with one of my Sydney friends visiting Ordy. Was really nice, we finally got to see where she lives after being told crazy stories, saw her fabled white possum, so we can vouch for her, she isn't imagining it. Yesterday we went to the Heide Museum, which was good to see, as I had never been there, and there is a possibility one (or a few) of my Ern Malley pieces might be in a show next year there. So now I have seen the spot.
I am now in Queensland with my mother in her big, crazy rented house with it crazed carpets and all the cane toads hanging outside. I have yet to see any snakes... she can tell i am beside myself about the snakes. I have never really got over that phobia, despite seeing them up close in the Northern Territory years ago.

I told you I was white!
I think I'm the whitest girl in Australia at the moment.
This is during my 15 minutes on the beach and in the sea, there was a pretty bad rip, so I spent the 10 minutes in the sea trying to stay between the flags, swimming longways down the beach, and staying in the same place. Good exercise. Not so good if you want to catch waves.

Ahh, a bit of Brett Whiteley to get your blood flowing...
Here I am in Sydney, about to embarque on the next part of my journey, kind of, I will spend the next few days here. It is gorgeously warm here, not too humid, I can see the sea (now, after spending some time with my Dad in Camden), and all is good. I have eaten a fair amount of Thai, and sushi, and I have hardly said a word in French, which I find strange. Usually I burst into French any moment I let my defenses down (this excludes the moment I was awoken on the plane and I immediately started talking in French to the poor Malaysian air hostess).
Trying hard to get the Moleskine I was asked to sent to a trade Fair done, so I can send it off to them. I am pretty motivated, and I have some time in the next few days to really get it down without too many questions.

It is the eve of getting on the train... plane to Sydney. I am honestly not look forward to the 30 hours in transit, but what can you do? It will be good when I get there no doubt. I'll be in and out of here, Australia is not so backward that there will be silence.
The image above is a series of images I have been doing on a handmade rag paper (why the edges are so folded and raw), which is interesting to work on, as it is so absorbent, but the paper has such a nice feel apart from that. A little like the old book I like working in sometimes. I hope to come back with lots of ideas and things made and drawn. Lots of photos at least.
