illustration friday night: extreme dreams
Friday, February 8, 2008, 12:44 PM - Art/Design, Illustration, Illustration Friday Night

This is a piece, in it's digital multi-layered format before it turns into a screen print, perhaps in other colours than grey and black (as you can see in the following post), for an upcoming exhibition called "Kitch Catch" here in Lille. I am a week late on this one, but, you know.

unbelievable mess
Tuesday, February 5, 2008, 04:26 PM - General, Work (The Man), Art/Design, Illustration

Ever since the Salon Livres et Presse Jeunesse... I have been loitering around, (when I have been here), seemingly accumulating more and more work on surfaces, wondering about those comments about odd illustrations not being "my style" even though I did them... You just have to see this image to understand (Not all the images you see in the photo are mine). I think I am understanding my style and getting a grasp of not kidding myself into something I am not. I guess when you work as a graphic designer, you get asked to appropriate styles, so perhaps this is why I got a little lost? I have arrived in the clearing! Does that make sense?

I have actually done a decent amount of work today (my protesting, hoop jumping tiger is my work in progress started today).

back from Italy and Illustration Friday Night: Side Effects
Saturday, February 2, 2008, 08:11 AM - General, Relationships, Art/Design, Illustration, Illustration Friday Night

The above image is from thinking too much about stuff, this is what happens.

Back from Italy.
In the 8 or so days, we managed to print 114 prints of an edition (which was already started by MH) of a three plate photographic etching for Luis Camnitzer. I had the pleasure of inking / wiping the yellow and red plates, trying not to oxidise the yellow, as you can do if you are trying to go to fast, and making sure I had wiped the red plate well, because it had a fair amount of transparency in it, it seemed. Tiring! The biggest day we did was 20 prints, but that meant printing for 9 hours straight, not really stopping. Good experience to try to be consistent with printing something as finicky as a multi-plate etching by hand.

Have also finally decided to go to Australia at the end of the month, after two years of not going back. Now I have decided I am looking forward to seeing everyone.

going to Italy
Friday, January 18, 2008, 02:22 PM - Art/Design, Photography

I agreed to go to Italy on Sunday for about a week to help MH (THE German assistant at the studio) print an edition of prints that were commissioned. I have never been there in Winter, and have seen photos of the studio in snow... it was cold enough in September, so ski underwear and tights go with me this time. Below is one of my favourite pieces of MH's.

Oh God! I keep forgetting my Italian is absolutely appalling now. I kind of remember words, but the French ones automatically pop out.

My part of the paper quilt
Tuesday, January 15, 2008, 08:28 PM - Art/Design, Illustration

I was given a little extra time for my part of the last paper quilt, as I didn't receive the package before I went away to Morocco, but I finished it today, sent it off, and, well, there it is.
