here... finally!
Friday, March 23, 2007, 08:13 PM - General, Art/Design, Illustration,

After a server swap, and being sick and then realising that I couldn't post on my blog... we have fixed it.
Above is my Mail Me Art submission, not yet put in the postbox... so, I hope it gets there!
I haven't backed it or anything, it is just on the old book page as is.

six weird things about...
Wednesday, February 7, 2007, 07:05 PM - General

So here I am after being tagged by Majeak Ann to write six weird things about me, so, let's start:

Firstly:
The image above, do you think a normal person works like that? (Damn that French verb table book, I still need it occasionally).

Secondly:
Due to a childhood fear of vampires, (after seeing a piece of the original silent film "Nosferatu"), starting at about 16 years of age, I got tired of sleeping with just a small hole to breathe out of and I read just about every piece of vampire fiction available. Old and new. It fixed it... now what about those aliens?

Thirdly:
I told my class when I was eleven that, in fact, lettuce was my favourite food... if only I knew the consequences of that statement now...

Fourthly:
I let my hair get to Edward Sissorhand standards sometimes, in fact it is like that today. It must be a childhood hang-up, my mother used to chase me with the brush, and in the end just cut the big mats out of my hair because she couldn't deal with the screaming. I don't think the curly hair helps the dread locking.

Fifthly:
I'd like to dedicate this last one to "my town".
Why oh Why do I see vomit in the street EVERYDAY in this place? I never saw it in Paris to that extent... is it because it is a university town? Are people eating tons of crap they can't stomach? I don't understand.

And Lastly
I... I... ummm. Perhaps I need to ask someone about this last one?

Plus I don't know who to tag!

le retour + illustration friday: phoenix
Wednesday, January 3, 2007, 05:53 PM - General, Art/Design, Illustration, Illustration Friday

typical monkey from an egg story...

Chicken that wished he was a bear...

cockatoo that is trying to infiltrate a rats party, or something...

two masked bunnies (and a partridge in a pear tree)...

...and a skating monster, because I did half an hour of ice skating in Canada, and it was a bit shaky. I hadn't done it for years, and I was never fabulous at it as it was.

I had a quick peek at the Illustration Friday topic while I was in NY at a friend of my mans... so some of the above images are inspired by this.

I am back, and sadly, due to unfinished shower, no staying here at home, unless we want to wash in the sink, not tonight anyway.
We spent time in Canada (Christmas), where my Mother and my Step Father are living at the moment, then spent a three night non-stop, not doing much of what we wanted to do in New York... I have been there before, so I wasn't too worried about the sites, plus, I am never a very good tourist. Perhaps I'll post some photos at some stage. My mother bought me a fish-eye Lomo, so I played with that a lot, I just need to get it developed. I took only ink pens with me, and drew in the plane and while sitting around waiting for the snow to fall.
How hot is it in North America! It is too warm for this time of year, plus everything is heated to hell, I don't understand why they don't turn the heat down a few degrees and put on a jumper... perhaps then "they" can stop complaining about global warming. Sorry, my two cents.
I did eat tons of Asian (I was indulged)... I have been enjoying being slightly cold here again in Lille.

Illustration Friday: "Might" (of Ern Malley)
Saturday, December 2, 2006, 01:22 PM - General, Art/Design, Illustration, Illustration Friday

Well, the Ern Malley part is mine. Let me explain. Every Friday night since I decided to do a work on Ern Malley (also corresponding with Myths and Legends for Howiezine ), I wake up at 4am thinking about, or with a fabulous idea as to how to illustrate the interpretation (a hand made book) I want to produce. This is this morning's effort, the first illustration with the cage was finished at the end of last week, but this morning we have Max Harris as a penguin, (because of course he was an Angry one, but not yet finished completely) in the witness box, I think it needs some text. Court room text... then we have him looking up at "Ern" in the sky, like a sighting of Christ or The Virgin Mary.
Then, I went to the Atelier this morning and printed like a maniac for the Howiezine. Eventually Ern will leave my system. It does look really good the screen printed thing for Howiezine. I am really happy.
I'm tired now.

GOCCO!
HELP, I WOULD LIKE SOME OPINIONS!

Perhaps, also, if anyone has some good stuff to tell me about Gocco printers, (or bad) I would love to know what you think of them, especially if you are already a printmaker... I want one, but am wondering if I am being unreasonable, considering I have general access to a screen printing studio, but, I would like to have some freedom to print some smaller pieces without running it past 10 people, explaining it.
