Illustration Friday Night: A book I'll always remember: Ern Malley: The Darkening Elyptic

Sybilline
That rabbit’s foot I carried in my left pocket
Has worn a haemorrhage in the lining
The bunch of keys I carry with it
Jingles like fate in my omphagic ear
And when I stepped clear of the solid basalt
The introverted obelisk of night
I seized upon this Traumdeutung as a sword
To hew a passage to my love.
And now out of life, permanent revenant
I assert: the caterpillar feet
Of these predictions lead nowhere,
It is necessary to understand
That a poet may not exist, that his writings
Are the incomplete circle and straight drop
Of a question mark
And yet I know I shall be raised up
On the vertical banners of praise.
The rabbit’s foot of fur and claw
Taps on the drain-pipe. In the alley
The children throw a ball against
Their future walls. The evening
Settles down like a brooding bird
Over streets that divide our life like a trauma
Would it be strange now to meet
The figure that strode hell swinging
His head by the hair
On Princess Street?

As we are still kind of camping out, not in our own house, the creation of anything more than ink drawings still persists.
I have finally also had the chance to see some of my lomo photos from Canada, I think I need to override the automatic scanning my scanner does to get the full circle of the fisheye, but here is a little taste, I will post the full set (once I can spend a little more relaxed time in my flat) on my my lomo home, which I haven't done in a long time.

inspire me thursday: photo a day
Friday, September 29, 2006, 07:29 PM - Illustration Friday Night
So this is a kind of big challenge for me, as I don't really think I am very photogenic... so I covered up the part that betrays me most often, apart from blinking every time someone tries to take my photo, it was hard not to change the photos to black and white also. I know it has been done, a little, and six day of photos is nothing compared with four years of a photo a day. I look tired. Generally.
So there. Done.

no sun here...

Song for the week:
Newark Wilder : Pavement (Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain)
Thought I might add, once more, some sun from Australia, because there certainly isn't any here, (yes that is me completely covered in the sun). To top it off, it is worse today than it was the last few days, and you know why? Because everyone has in their head that all holidays this month will come with bad weather. The frogs are doing it to themselves.

self portraits : two
Thursday, April 20, 2006, 12:43 AM - General, Relationships, Art/Design, Illustration Friday Night
So I have been digging in my work that I have here in Australia and finding old self portraits that I am kind of finding pretty funny.
What was I thinking for a couple of them?
The first one has the blond and fire engine red hair stage captured forever, but in black and white... who knows with the other, I know it is the start of my double, triple exposure of films, but apart from that, I seem to still have the peroxided hair, but, who knows. Funny anyway. They must be from about 1993/94. Over ten years ago, scary. not sure I honestly look that much different. Older I mean. People say that anyway.
