illustration friday : sea
Sunday, January 8, 2006, 08:37 AM - Work (The Man), Illustration, Illustration Friday

This is an old piece I did that is the only thing I can conjure up in my mind about the sea. "The Sea" is a touchy subject in our household at the moment, because of the lack of it.

After a two week break, was back at six hours of grammar company again on friday. The one that gives me the meal I don't eat. I told them that I was "allergic" to lots of things and prefered to bring my own food. I still got the platter, so I kept it, took it home with me and gave it to a homeless person. It was kind of embarrassing how greatful she was. Was pleased I could put it to some use. Hate wasting food.

Coloured the last illustration friday piece, and have decided I liked it more just as a pencil sketch.
C'est la vie.

This blog entry cracked me up today...

So, I promise I will do something in colour next time I have an illustration friday submission.

I have been told that we are going into the FNAC today to buy a gift for the nieces, why today?
Christmas celebrations tonight, had a horrid sleep over night due to neighbours kid deciding he was going to start partying at middnight. He is only 10 or something like that, already listens to death metal and punk and last night was honestly the first time he has annoyed me with playing music really loud, and the first time I was able to hear it in my lounge room. I guess, I am in an apartment, it is Christmas, and, well, two good reasons not to be grumpy about it. Makes me sound old.

My husband has created an application called "PumpItUp" (you can look at his blog if you must know all the dirty programming details)... so, he has been bugging me for this "icon" for ages. I had hand-drawn ideas, he just couldn't understand why I would want to do it that way first. I asked him which ones he liked, and he mentioned my least favourite. So, I sat in front of the computer last night, I did the one he pointed out, and the one I liked the most... I won. hehehehehe.

Asaurus Records have a T-Shirt competition due for the end of the year. I now have a goal for my non-existent student lessons this afternoon. Short deadline, but I am sure I'll manage.

So here is my entry for illustration friday. I did actually draw this one this week, just a few days ago, was happy with the result, and it fits to top it off.

Had a frustrating day yesterday.
I spent 6.5 hours in a company that wants their employees to have a 750 TOEIC (this is an English multiple choice exam, with listening, and it is hard), no matter what. How a couple of them are going to get it beats me, but anyway.
So I am trying to explain to them the difference between the present perfect and the past simple and they are asking me question like; "But what does the 'yet' mean in that sentence?". Felt like Rob Gordon / Fleming from "High Fidelity" obsessing over Laura saying she hasn't slept with Ray yet. It was appauling. Note I didn't have a break either, and they expected me to teach people while I ate, which I dislike doing. I won't even talk about what the meal was they gave me to eat, and why I didn't eat it. All I will say is "devon" and leave it at that. I had my secret squirrel stash of food as normal. Squirrel / rabbit...call me what you want.

I am refusing to do those lessons again, not confident enough I am giving the correct information.

I noticed that Marissa is looking for submissions for anything i like, have a look at her site, it is an excellent collection of artists, if you want to put me in that catagory, I won't complain.

surprise!
Saturday, December 10, 2005, 08:00 AM - Animals, Illustration, Illustration Friday

This is my very simplified entry for illustration friday this week. The topic is SURPRISE. It is drawn on the back of an old etching, that is what the mark is in the corner.

I read this article about Dogs Laughing, it has a report too that you can watch. I was pretty impressed.

Then, we have something else which is a little long, but it made my night the other night: Triumph Vs Star Wars Geeks, not sure where it came from, but it was pretty funny to me the other night.

This illustration on Steam Crow Press, is my favourite illustration this week.
