lie - lay - lie
Thursday, June 8, 2006, 05:40 PM - English

I always have had a fear that a student will ask me about these verbs... until last night. VdB (my man) asked me about the difference between lie (as in lying down) or lay (as in: that hen laid an egg).
I decided to quit not knowing and whipped out the Penguin Usage and Abusage, fabulous, answered my question, and even had a go at a couple of authors while it was at it. Perhaps it is a little clearer now?

illustration friday: portrait
Wednesday, June 7, 2006, 06:42 PM - General, Art/Design, Illustration, Illustration Friday

Here is my entry for illustration friday, I was mildly inspired by old portraiture, decided to change her into a wolf or something like that.
It's ok. That's all I can really say about it.

Decided to go to Italy last night, bought my ticket this morning, but have yet to tell work, but, I am sure it will be fine. So now I have been thinking all day about an idea for the work I'd like to do. I have ideas to do with birds again, but more... oh how to explain it, not yet. I also have an idea using the idea of numbers/mathematics and music. (I got there by the need to try to use birds, the brain moved to
The Magic Flute, it then moved to the show I heard the other day about mathematics and music on BBC4 (In Our Time) . That's how my mind works. Perhaps it is normal?

left-hand discrimination!
Tuesday, June 6, 2006, 05:36 PM - Relationships

So over the weekend we went to Toulouse, it was beautiful, blue skies, sun, people we know, the weekend seemed to go on forever (in a good way). I personally didn't take any photos, that would portray Toulouse.

I did find something I thought was funny though. The above photo, which is a very common design for Villaroy and Bosch... this cup. It is discriminatory to left-handers. If you hold it in your left hand, which I tried to do while using it, the lip of the cup is higher and it is rather difficult to hold the handle. Piffle.

Oh well, I guess I should do my illustration friday entry and stop mucking about on the internet?

Texas/Lille swap in the making
Friday, June 2, 2006, 11:00 AM

So I received a box of booty today from Lori, she has made me feel very spoilt, I am a little scared to open those Bush cards... here goes!
Hopefully she receives my swap soon.

On the other hand speaking of mail.
There was a letter in the letterbox, from my mother the other day, addressed to myself and my husband... open it up it is a beautiful Brett Whiteley card, but only addressed to VdB! (that is my husband by the way). Rude. I know he is unhappy, but...

Will be going to Toulouse for the weekend, hopefully, despite the weather extremes they have predicted, I hope it is sunny, at least. I don't care if it is 10°C, as long as it is sunny.
I sold a purse on my Blue House store yesterday, I always get so excited when I sell something,
a bit silly I know.
