Can you believe I have finished it?

With much patience and letting me come twice a week from Alain, I have finished the Ern Malley book! I have to have an exclamation mark, because it is necessary.
If you would like to see the work I have done on Ern Malley, have a look at my Flickr Set: Ern Malley, there are scans of the book in there now too. I haven't put them on my website yet, I need more time than Flickr needs to do that, and I am too excited!
If you are at all interested in obtaining a copy of the book, feel free to contact me. I may put one in my Etsy Store soon.

Oh dear, everyone knows how much this topic could brush me up the wrong way, so I am showing you a "baby" monkey running off in haste.
I submitted this illustration to Pocketful Illustration Magazine for their first edition.

small minded neo conservatism still exists concerning the arts
Saturday, May 31, 2008, 11:44 AM - General, Relationships, Politics, Art/Design, Photography

I have been following the astonishing story this week of the photographer Bill Henson and the confiscation of his work from the Rosylyn Oxley Gallery in Sydney due to its "obscene content". I feel like we have descended back into the age of putting big, white bras on the African Ballet in the 1960s or the problems Max Harris had with his publication "The Angry Penguins" spurred by the Ern Malley Affair.
Bill Henson has been working for over 30 years taking similar photographs, I don't understand why all of a sudden he is the focus of such an attack. He is no stranger to controversy, but it still makes me wonder if the neo-conservative ideas and the censoring of artists which was put in place with the Howard Government and the Anti-Terrorism Act still exists even with our newly appointed Labour Government. Maybe, as artists we still have to be wary in Australia.

almost, almost...

So, as you can see, my book is finished... kind of. It is printed. I am now counting how many complete, perfect copies there are, folding... nominating certain copies to certain people (who asked for particular defects for example). Next step is to sew them, sign, number et voila!
It feels strange to see it done.

I am a moleskine exchange monster!
Wednesday, May 28, 2008, 11:17 AM - General, Relationships, Art/Design, Illustration, Moleskine

I received David's Moleskine from Kersten yesterday, no two days ago. I sketched the idea generally at about 11pm, then... I have no idea what was going on yesterday, but I had this extra charged battery and I created all day. Maybe it was my new desk configuration. Maybe it makes it more comfortable to work? Anyway, check out the other photos on Flickr : Moly-X.
