Collaborative Monster Collective printed and Finders Keepers here I come

I managed to wrangle my way out of work early yesterday and set myself the task of getting ready for Finders Keepers. I printed off 25 zine-style copies of Collaborative Monster Collective, so people can get making monsters sooner than later.
Took photos of my plates, packed them up... and now I am ready! What I don't have done now is not going to happen today, I have decided.

Collaborative Monster Collective

In my quest to satisfy my desire to print, print, print, but my dislike to accumulate more paper in my house, I think I have woken up with the perfect idea. The Collaborative Monster Collective.
How it works
When I eventually make some or all my "monsters" available, you can either acquire or print out your choice of monsters (there might be a few zine versions at the Sydney Finders Keepers...) you draw to your hearts content, then upload your images to the flickr group.
We see how we go from there... or maybe it will all stay generally virtual.
See, I can save some trees.

T-shirt monsters in action

Really the bare bones of a t-shirt monster, but still one in progress. No longer just in my head.

Ooli's moleskine breaks the drought
Friday, October 29, 2010, 09:38 AM - General, Relationships, Animals, Music/Books/Film, Art/Design, Illustration, Moleskine, Moleskine Exchanges
(this is a detail of the full piece)
Despite that second room, which is supposedly our "study" being an absolute pigsty, no storage, books in piles on the floor (because I needed to find a few of them) mess... I don't actually like being in there to be honest, but I am slowly getting use to it (this weekend is D-Day for mess and should be all sorted with new, long desk and a bit of storage for the materials I have everywhere)...
So digression...
I have a pile of moleskines on my desk running upto about 10. Some are mine waiting to be sent off, some are other people's that I should be working in and sending off. Oppsie!
So I picked one at random and found myself with a book from one of my favourite exchanges MolyX-71 : the music exchange. Ooli's choice of music is Asa Chang & Junray
A little quirky and crazy. She supplied us with the album Tsu Gi Ne Pu as well, with it's mix of Japanese and Indian musical styles. This is my entry.
Next moleskine is? Or maybe I should start Catherine Campbell's piece that I am looking at with a very terrified look on my face. What if I mess it up?

painting on a different medium
Tuesday, October 19, 2010, 11:04 PM - General, Relationships, Art/Design, Illustration, Stores: Etsy, Blue House
Yesterday, I finally found a couple of plates that looked just like me, bit of gold, bit of burgundy... perfect for monsters. So I got painting and this is the result. I am pretty pleased. Now to put them in the oven and see what happens next.
